NVRacing is Northern Virginia’s largest social training club for adventure racers and triathletes. This year, NVRacing is adding a new dimension to the racing experience: kids and families. It’s been the club’s goal to get families active since it started three years ago. Just recently, NVRacing secured Hudson Trail Outfitters, Ltd., as a premiere sponsor. Hudson trail Outfitters shares the goal of creating outdoor experiences for families, including hiking trips and adventure races. “As the wilderness outdoor specialists, it made perfect sense for us to partner with a club like NVRacing – we’ll reach outdoor enthusiasts and kids,” said Sandy Cohan, general Manager, Hudson Trail Outfitters, Ltd. Whether you’re a beginner or an experience racer, you know that training and race day take time away from your family. NVRacing wants to create a fun way to bring kids into the mix. Our goal is to bring families together, help get kids active, and create an experience that they can’t get anywhere else. Children as young as five have participated in our events.

NVRacing is planning to hold its first family adventure in October 2008 at Conway Robinson State Forest in Gainesville, VA. “We’re anticipating that over thirty families will take part,” stated Michael Spiller. Before the children’s race, we will hold a beginner adult adventure race. It’s a great way to get the entire family involved!

Michael Spiller and his wife Vanessa co-founded NVRacing, LLC, in 2006. Michael is a seasoned adventure racer and has completed over thirty adventure races of various lengths, including Primal Quest in June 2008.
